Most people do not know this but Flagstone is not a type of stone, it is a generic description for a flat stone that landscapers use in there work. Flagstone is made from sedimentary pieces of stone cut into sheets of different thicknesses from 1" up to 8". Since Flagstone is a natural object it has very different color patterns and shades so this makes matching your existing Flagstone project nearly impossible. We have many uses for Flagstone and on this page I'll explain the most common that we use it for. Every piece of Flagstone is hand picked by a member of our team and checked to ensure the highest quality.
Flagstone Patio: For a patio we use 1" to 2" thick pieces to cover your existing concrete or on a new slab we pour. We hand cut each piece to make them fit together like a natural looking puzzle and mortar them into place.
Flagstone Stepping Stones: Stepping stones are done in two ways. One on a bed of sand or Two in mortar. We hand chisel each stepping stone to make it the right size and shape for the project and then lay each piece into a bed of sand or mortar depending on the projects purpose. These steps are more for esthetics than usefulness since they are placed around 12" apart from each other with gravel or grass in-between them. They are never less than 1 1/2" thick and should never rock or sound hollow.
Flagstone BBQ Top or Wall Cap: We start by choosing 2" thick flagstone pieces and hand chiseling them to give a natural appearance rather than a manufactured one. After we choose and chisel each piece we set them into mortar just as we do with a Patio. This is a very nice addition to any home or project.
